Orange Extract

Very Easy

Ingredients

1/4 Cup - Orange Peels

1/4 Cup - Vodka

*Based on my own research, I've found that the quality of vodka does not matter that much. In fact, the cheaper vodkas seem to infuse better than more expensive bottles. I typically use Svedka vodka for all of my infusions.

Preparation

  1. Use your orange scraps by placing peels in a glass container. (Amber glass is a great way to keep light out of the jar but is not necessary!)

  2. Fill the container with vodka and seal tightly.

  3. Store your orange extract in a dark place. Allow orange peels to infuse for 6-9 months.

  4. After 6-9 months, place a bowl on the table. Strain out the orange peels, you can throw these away.

  5. Funnel your new orange extract into any glass container. (I like to use droppers). Remember to continue to store these in a dark place. Enjoy!

TIP: Label your jar with today's date. It can be easy to forget when you started your extraction process so this will help you stay on track!
